The Court
The Court is the first place of the Rocca that immediately shows the long passage of time. Starting from the flooring composed of a solid carpet of river stones from the nearby Marecchia river, which is still the same as when the fortress was built by Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta. Even the walls of the Court are excellent witnesses of the changes that have stratified over the centuries, leaving unmistakable traces. At the centre of the Court, the solitary protagonist is the ancient well for rainwater, while a little further away it is possible to see a marble plaque dedicated to the memory of the academic and essayist Count Antonio Baldini who also lived here.
